A clan tag has less room than any other field in PUBG Mobile or Battlegrounds Mobile India, so the symbol you pick matters more here than anywhere else. The number under each symbol below is its real length — not how wide it looks, but how many slots it actually spends. That difference is why a tag that seems short still gets refused.
Width is not length
A symbol that draws wide can be one character, and a symbol that draws narrow can be three. The game counts characters, and your eye counts width, and the two disagree constantly.
The clearest example is the face string ×͜×, which turns up in thousands of player names. It looks like two characters. It is three: two multiplication signs with a joining mark tucked between them that has no width of its own. Paste it into a tag field with two slots free and it will not fit, no matter how narrow it looks.
Every chip on this page carries its real count, so you can budget before you paste rather than after you are refused.
One-character tags
The safest choice for any tag field: one glyph, one slot, nothing hidden.
Bracket pairs
Two characters — one on each side of whatever goes between them. Budget them as a pair, because using only half a pair looks like a mistake rather than a style.
Face strings
These are the ones that surprise people. Note the counts: none of them costs what it appears to.
Framed names, ready to copy
Complete names with the frame already applied. The count shown is the whole string.
Squad names
Longer, for fields that allow more room. The spaces are ordinary spaces and count as characters like everything else.
Small-caps letter tags in frames
Short words in small capitals with a frame around them. The number is the full length of the string, frame included, and none of these tags has been tried in the game.
For more names to go with your tag, see pubg bgmi names, and the full set of tools lives on PUBGSymbol.
Why a tag gets refused
- It is longer than it looks. Covered above, and it is the most common cause by far.
- The character is outside the accepted set. Each game keeps its own list of permitted ranges and revises it between updates without announcing it. A symbol that worked last season may not work now.
- The tag is taken. Short tags in common scripts went years ago. Changing one character usually frees it.
- A filter caught the letters. Filters read the plain letters underneath the styling, so swapping a letter for a lookalike does not slip a blocked word through.
When something is refused, change one element at a time. Rewriting the whole tag tells you nothing about which of the four you hit.

Test it in the game, not here
This page renders symbols with the fonts on your own device. The game renders them with its own fonts and applies its own rules about which characters it will store at all. Those are two different systems, and only one of them decides.
So treat anything here as a candidate, not a guarantee: paste it into the actual field, look at the preview, and only then commit. That check costs nothing, and it is the only one that counts.
Questions people ask
Why does my tag show as boxes for a teammate?
Their device has no glyph for that character. The tag is not broken and nothing is wrong with your account — it simply cannot be drawn there. Common symbols are far safer than rare ones for exactly this reason.
Can I use a space inside a clan tag?
Sometimes, and it costs a character when you can. Many tag fields strip spaces entirely, which is why tags are usually written solid.
Do symbols affect how my clan is found in search?
Yes, and not helpfully. Someone searching your clan by name types letters, not symbols. A tag built entirely from decoration is effectively unsearchable, so keep at least some plain letters if you want to be found.
Is there a symbol that works everywhere?
Plain letters and digits. Everything beyond that is a judgement call per platform, which is why the counts on this page matter more than any list of “best” symbols.
Why do some symbols look bolder than others?
Because they come from different parts of Unicode, drawn by different designers at different weights. It is not a style you can change — the weight is baked into the character.
